Decorate your house with “Dokra Art,” an age-old technique for creating metal objects. This lovely piece of art will give your space a traditional yet contemporary feel. This beautifully handcrafted brass elephant decorative holder was inspired by traditional Indian tribal art. The artwork shows the tranquil, magnificent face of an elephant, surrounded by broad, textured ears and crowned with elaborate head ornamentation. The trunk has a strong metal ring attached to it that serves as both decoration and utility. The circular ring can be used as a wall decoration and a practical object by holding keys, towels, scarves, or even incense rings.
Material: Brass
Color: Antique brass tone
Art: Dokra
Dokra art is a metal casting process that has been used for over 4,000 years and dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization. Its distinctive features include intricate motifs and a rough, tribal appearance. The Dokra Damar people of West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand practice this ancient art, which is inextricably linked to the country’s natural environment and culture. The artists frequently hunt the surrounding forests for charcoal, beeswax, and clay, all of which are natural materials utilized in the casting process. The lost wax technique is used to create a clay framework that is then used to cut out designs from wax. They then apply extra clay on top to form a mold. After the mold has been warmed with wood to burn off the wax, molten brass is poured into the unoccupied region. The clay has been broken to reveal the finished work once it has cooled, which is a great reflection of their culture, surroundings, and craft as artists.
