Dokra art is a metal casting technique that has been in use for more than 4,000 years and originates from the Indus Valley Civilization. Intricate designs and a rough, tribal appearance define it. This ancient art, which is closely associated with the country’s natural environment and way of life, is performed by the Dokra Damar people of West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. The artists frequently explore the nearby forests in search of charcoal, beeswax, and clay, which are all natural materials that are used in the casting process. The lost wax technique is employed to construct a clay framework, which is then used to cut out designs using wax. Subsequently, they apply additional clay on top to create a mold.
