The Dokra Damar people of West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand practice Dokra art. This metal casting technique dates back more than 4,000 years to the Indus Valley Civilization and is characterized by intricate designs and a rough, tribal appearance. The artists often look for charcoal, beeswax, and clay in the surrounding forests because these natural materials are used in the casting process. The lost wax process creates a clay framework from which wax designs are carved, and then they add more clay on top to create a mold. Once the mold has been warmed with wood to remove the wax, molten brass is poured into the vacant area. The clay has been destroyed to reveal the finished work once it has cooled, which is a fantastic picture of their culture, surroundings, and artistic skill.
